During my volunteer shift, I sorted and organized books ranging from Kindergarten to college level.
I had a great experience helping the Discovery Program kids with social/emotional and STEM learning. Specifically, I got the chance to read a book and have a discussion with the kids about what they want to be when they grow up. All of the Discovery Day staff and students were fun and welcoming.
The Ronald McDonald Family House provides hot meals to families with extended stay at the Children's Hospital. As a volunteer group we prepared homemade chicken and broccoli Alfredo, and served it to the families in the hospital. It was very fulfilling because they were so grateful to receive a home cooked meal.
Grace Community Food Pantry is a subsidiary of Grace Community Fellowship Church, and serves to provide nourishing food for families in need. As a volunteer, I had a great experience packaging meals for families of 2 to families of 7. It was amazing to realize how much larger families are in need of much more food than we would think.
