Celebrate Juneteenth with the Detroit Justice Center

Tuesday, June 7th from 12:00pm to Sunday, July 31st, 2022 9:00pm (ET)
This has ended. If you attended, let the organizer know by recording your Impact!

The Detroit Justice Center (DJC) is dedicated to working alongside communities to create economic opportunities, transform the justice system, and promote equitable and just cities. In honor of Juneteenth 2022, we call you to join us in pursuit of our mission.

There are a few different ways that you can support DJC from the comfort of your home and an exciting in-person opportunity that will be announced near Juneteenth.

1. Research designated sites related to the Black history of Detroit to help us celebrate Juneteenth through a creative experience still yet to be announced! Register for this event to receive a prompt and additional information.

2. Utilize our tools and resources! Here’s a selection to get you started:
  • Know Your Rights: The do’s and don’ts for interacting with the police
  • Co-op Presentation: Dig into the history of worker-owned co-operatives, with a focus on African American co-ops, and learn how to set one up
  • Restorative Justice Youth Design Summit: We asked Detroit teens what they would build instead of a new jail. Check out this video to hear what they said. Afterward, you can write down what your community needs in place of a prison and share it with us!

3. Support the Detroit Justice Center with a donation!

Each day, our team fights to reunite families, lift barriers to employment and housing, and strengthen communities by supporting small businesses and land trusts. We're building a more equitable and just Detroit, and we need your help.

Our work is committed to furthering the unfinished fight for Black freedom and for a society where everyone can flourish. We are all indebted to Black people who fought to be free generations ago — their work is still reverberating across time. Today, we can be those people for future generations.

DJC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 82-2295339). All donations made to DJC are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
